Viking of the Year Award

Collect points. Earn glory. Win the title.

Club of Geneva Competition runs until December 31st!

The epic quest is on! The Viking of the Year award celebrates the most legendary member of the Nordics Club Geneva — the one who shows up, joins in, and spreads good Nordic cheer across all seasons.

By earning Viking Points, you climb the ranks toward fame, honor, and a fabulous prize. Whether you’re from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, or just a lover of Scandinavian and Nordic culture, this challenge is for you! On the Leaderboard, you can check your current point status.

Everyone is welcome — regardless of your nationality or background. Many of our members live in Geneva, Vaud, or even just across the border in France. If you’re curious about Nordic culture, or simply want to have fun with an open international crowd, you’re in the right place.

How to earn Viking Points

You earn points by being active, adventurous, and full of Nordic spirit! Here’s how:

  • Attending events like our Midsummer Picnic, Crayfish Party, Easter Brunch, Lucia Celebration, Christmas Dinner, or casual Afterwork Apéros – based on events announced for the year
  • Bringing a friend to an event (bonus points if they join as a member!)
  • Wearing traditional Nordic outfits — flower crowns, Christmas jumpers, or even Viking helmets (based on event theme)
  • Winning or participating in quizzes, scavenger hunts, or fun competitions
  • Making correct guesses in contests linked to Eurovision, ice hockey, football, and more
  • Sharing photos or stories from events (bonus points for creativity!) on specified media
  • Volunteering to help with events or behind the scenes
  • Spreading great energy and Nordic values like equality, community, and “hygge”

We’ll also occasionally announce surprise bonus tasks, photo challenges, or hidden quests via our Events page, so stay alert!

Leaderboard & Updates

The live Viking Points Leaderboard is available at the bottom of this page and will be updated regularly throughout the year. Think you’re in the lead? Or ready to launch your comeback? This is your place to track glory.

Why take part?

Besides bragging rights and a mighty prize, the Viking Points challenge is a great reason to:

  • Meet new people from the Nordic and Scandinavian community in Geneva
  • Explore events inspired by Nordic traditions — from Sankt Hans to Lucia, kräftskiva, and even Fika-themed meetups
  • Learn more about the cultures of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and beyond
  • Have fun and laugh together — the true Viking way

Whether you’re a long-time member or brand new to the club, this is your year to become a legend.

May the boldest Viking win!
